Istanbul’s Mayoral Election Recount

The votes have been counted… Or have they? On the 3rd April 2019 Mark Lowen sat down to interview Ekrem İmamoğlu, the CHP candidate up for election for the enviable role of Istanbul Mayor. A job previously held by the country’s current President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan this role is seen by some as the precursor to becoming the next president of the Turkish Republic. At this point the election had taken place and the opposition party had won by just 25,000 votes. In a city of 15 million this was a close run fight and the ruling AK party were having none of it ordering a re-count.

Can he manage expectations of his supporters at such a critical time?

I filmed this using three camera’s in the Party’s headquarters after the rally.
