For those who may be interested! – About Me

Cutting a really long and very boring story short. I had first bought a camera whilst travelling the world as a fresh faced Royal Marine on the trip of a lifetime to the Far East. The only thing I bought home, apart from an enormous overdraft, were a load of pictures taken with an Olympus 35mm film camera (£130 in the NAAFI) that went everywhere with me.
My first serious camera was a Sigma SA300 and having a zoom lens made the world a different place altogether. I volunteered for a year long draft to Diego Garcia (a tropical island the Indian Ocean) and I was so glad I took that camera with me. The island was visually stunning and a brilliant opportunity for taking photographs, so much so that I spent the best part of my pay each month in the small photolab on the island.
I came back from the tropics with a yearning to do something different with my career, so I took a draft to the Commando Training Centre in Devon. Two and a half years training recruits was definitely a change and a welcome break from travelling. Although being an instructor had its rewards it still wasn’t enough, it was at this point in my life I decided that I wanted to be a photographer.
I made some enquiries and a year later I was on a military career photography course at the Defense School of Photography, 8 months after that I was the proud owner of a set of bell bottoms and now fully trained I had become a Royal Navy Photographer.
I served four years in the Navy on several ships, then back with the Royal Marines in the UK and Iraq. I was honoured to win the Royal Navy Photographer of the Year only a few months out of training. I finished my Royal Navy career serving as a photographer with the Royal Marines, supporting them on the front line in Afghanistan, providing scene of crime evidence gathering and public relations photography.
I had a brilliant time in ‘the mob’ and had been given opportunities that most photographers can only dream of. I decided to leave after a total of about 13 years in order to spend more time at home with my fiancee Sara and become a press photographer… As part of my rehabillitation into civvy life I completed the NCTJ Press Photographers course up in Sheffield with the illustrious Mr Paul Delmar at the helm.
I now work out of West London as a freelance photographer and have acquired contracts for Press, Public Relations companies and commercial clients.
